Foods to Lose Fat

written by Healthy Life

Every dieter’s fantasy involves being able to eat whatever you want but still somehow lose weight. We all know it’s not possible, but the mistake too many of us make is thinking we have to restrict our food intake to lose weight or would have to take prescription slimming pills to lose weight. This is not true — the best way to lose weight is to choose the right foods, eat them at the right times, and work with your body to make it into an optimized fat-burning machine. I have three favorites foods that all happen to start with the letter A, and all three will help you lose fat and supercharge your metabolism.

Almonds: I love to recommend eating almonds (and other kinds of nuts too), because they have a TRIPLE health benefit. First, they are packed with fiber, antioxidants, protein, and are a rich source of Vitamin E and other great stuff. Second, almonds contain one of the “good” fats that help to lower your LDL cholesterol. But the best thing about them is that they are portable, easy to eat, and act as an appetite suppressant, lowering your desire for bigger meals and less healthy foods. They can be a little expensive compared to other snacks, but I like to think that they actually save me money because I eat less of something else!

Avocados: These green wonders are a treat on a salad, or in almost any recipe. Avocados are super-high in fiber, with about 12 grams of fiber per fruit, more than twice what you find in a typical apple. They are also high in B Vitamins, which help prevent heart disease, anemia, and are good for your immune system.

Apples: Yes, I did just say that apples don’t have as much fiber as avocados, but have you ever tried to eat an avocado while driving your car? Apples, like almonds, are great to get in the habit of eating because they are so easy to have around… they stay good for awhile, you can keep them in your bag, and they have lots of fiber and other vitamins. The fruit can be quite filling as well, so an apple between meals can really change your routine and make you a more healthy eater.

Here’s an idea… a “triple A” salad, with almonds, avocados, and apple slices.
